What To Eat Instead of a Smoothie To Give You a Energy Boost?

Sometimes we don't drink a smoothie in the morning. Sometimes we want something hot, or something that will give a great energy burst. Great for an intense workout. Why not try beans. We like to eat them with raw red or yellow onions to avoid the need for salt. In this picture nutritional yeast flakes were also sprinkled on top. 1/2 to 1 cup is great instead of or in addition to a smaller smoothie or a banana. Or save banana/smoothie for after workout.

P.S. We know what you are thinking...yes beans produce gas but so do a lot of other foods i.e.. broccoli etc. This is a natural part of life. However, if you soak your beans (see pg. 98) and if you eat them regularly it is not as bad as you are thinking..lol. Give it a try.
